Weekend Retro Rewind

Here we go again....

Welcome to the second installment of Weekend Retro Rewind.

* In 1987 I loved this song, even though it was originally released in 1982 by the British band Tin Tin.

* It's Steven "Tin Tin" Duffy's "Kiss Me" and it truly is the only song I've ever known from this artist and I can bet you $100 you've never heard of him.

* If you listen to the lyrics, they're actually quite risque. At 14, I had no idea. Interestingly enough, "Kiss me with your mouth, your love is better than wine" is from the Song of Solomon in The Bible.

I have insomnia...if I listen to the lyrics, will they put me to sleep?

I am jet lagged and all confused over the time--so this is late for the saturday sharefest. but what the heck...who really cares right?! i notice you loved Judy Blume---she redefined children's literature i think. I think her book "God It's Me Margaret" was one of the first pieces of young adult literature that took on some subjects that really were taboo until those days. anyway, keep up the blogging. drop in on mine sometime--the door matt is always out and i love to get comments. i'm new at this (litte more than a month) but enjoying it immensely. i live in Cairo right now(but my husband and grown kids are in the US) and i find the blogging to be a wonderful "community"--and is keeping me sane!

I've never heard of him. Cool song though!

There are a lot of risque lyrics which I was oblivious to as a child listener.
On the other hand lyrics that seemed more explicit were probably harmless. For example, Buddy Knox's 'Party Doll' seemed a bit threatening to me - 'Come along and be my party doll, I'll make love to you'
My mum told me that in 'the old days' making love just meant kissing and cuddling. I still wonder if she was just trying to shield me :)

I *had* heard of him, believe it or not. Cool flashback though :)

Oh man, how I love those 80s only partly-animated videos! Did you notice all of the christian fish and symbols in the video too? Interesting!

It sounds like something that would've been too cool for me to listen to back in the day.

You win. I've never even heard of this song - any version of it. Which is really surprising because I'm pretty good at the pop culture trivia.
