Ralph Macchio The Karate Kid Stars in Wax On, F*ck Off!

It was the weekend of June 30th, 26 years ago, that my mom took my little brother and me to see The Karate Kid. I loved The Karate Kid. I had an entire scrapbook filled with Ralph Macchio articles. I loved that we both celebrate our birthdays on November 4. I love that like me, Ralph Macchio was born and raised (well, when not acting) on Long Island. I showed you my old diary entry about the day we first saw The Karate Kid. I've blogged about The Karate Kid soundtrack.Yes, next to ET and The Goonies, The Karate Kid was one of my favorite childhood movies.

With all of the excitement surrounding the remake, I'm kinda bummed to be honest. I have vented my anger regarding The Karate Kid remake with Will Smith's son on both Twitter and Facebook. I am so anti-remakes, especially when they mess with my childhood memories. Can't we just keep things the way they were?

You must check out this Funny or Die video with Ralph Macchio, trust me, you'll be glad you did!

Can't view the video but I loved the originals. How awesome was the second one when they went to Japan? Made me proud to have Japanese heritage. You know, with all those ice blocks and storms.

The video is great.
I wonder how close to the truth it is? I won't see the new movie.

I hate remakes!

I will NOT see this movie. Well, maybe in a little while after my anger wears off.

The Amityville Horror was a good remake. I think better than the original (I have both on DVD, so I'm an expert.)

Other than that, I can't think of any good remakes.

That was possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen!

Why remake the movie? I don't understand.... It was so good! Why can't we just let cult classics be cult classics.... Are there no original ideas in Hollywood anymore?

Why are we stuck seeing either a stupid remake of an awesome movie or a movie with Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.... Why are those my only options?

I think I'm going to sit on the couch this weekend with a tub of ice cream and spend some time with the real 'Karate Kid' and the 'Brat Pack'!

What about good books that are made into movies? They totally screw those up...Books are always better than movies...Into The Wild, they totally twisted certain facts... I was disappointed in it... and yeah, they may over dramatize or glamorize to market the movie but sheesh, there were a couple of facts they twisted.

I think most remakes suck. I will not see this one, that's for sure. Ralph is the karate kid, not some spoiled actors' kid. That clip is hilarious and probably close to the truth!

I always meant to watch this--never have seen it in its entirety. (Bad kid of the 90s!) I can't believe they are remaking it, though!

I am 100% opposed to this remake. No one else should ever be allowed to be the Karate Kid. Ralph was it. And plus I had the most ginormous crush on him when I was younger.

Huh, what do you know, I have something to say about the remake tomorrow myself.

That was brilliant!
My Dad took my brother and I to see the Karate Kid when we should have been at swim practice (my mom was pissed!). I wore my white fringe boots because I was a styling nine year old :-)

My brother and I got to see this movie for free because my Aunt worked at a theater. We did enjoy it. I went with my brother to an autograph signing show and Ralph Macchio was one of the stars there. I'm not really into getting autographs. My brother got Linda Hamilton's.

Ralph Macchio was my boyfriend! Okay, he wasn't my boyfriend but I always wished he was! When I heard about the remake, I wanted to die just so I could roll in my grave. Blasphemy!!! This is worse than when freakin' Lohan remade every Disney movie known to man.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Quit trying to remake my childhood!!!

Ugh. I'm sick of the re-makes, too. The boys are going to force me to see this.

Now I am certain you need to come and read the 1984 post. I wrote about the same thing regarding the remake of Karate Kid and Footloose!
