Brice Beckham | Wesley From Mr. Belvedere

Where is Wesley, Brice Beckham today?
Ask any '80s girl about ABC's family sitcom Mr. Belvedere and they will most likely tell you they remember crushing on Kevin Owens or Rob Stone. Not me! I was watching Mr. Belvedere for Wesley portrayed by Brice Beckham. Yes, even back then I fancied younger guys.

The show ran from March 1985 to July 1990 and focused  on The Owens and their fancy British butler, Mr. Belvedere (Christopher Hewett) living in the Pittsburg, PA area. The dad, Bob Uecker was a sports announcer and like most sitcoms from that time period, the story lines focused on various shenanigans involving the family.

View the intro and theme song to Mr. Belvedere:

I thought about Brice Beckham the other day and wondered where he is today. I stumbled upon his MySpace page and wished I could be his friend on Facebook -- he has warned fans that he only friends people he knows in real life. Bummer.

Today Brice Beckham is 35, lives in the LA area and is involved in theater acting -- he's a member of the Namaste theater group. He's appeared in VH1's short-lived comedy series I Hate My 30's

Remember him? Here's what he looks like today. Still adorable.

Is it bad to admit I had a crush on Vicky from Small Wonder?

I had the biggest crush on him back then! We watched I Hate My 30's when it was on. Never even caught that it was the same guy.

He turned out hot.
Thanks for this post. I'd forgotten that song but loved it and the show (and Rob Stone).

I remember the episode where Wes went to 'adopt' a grandparent from a rest home and after he told her all of the things she could take him to do she said something to the line of, "You know, I really wish you were my grandson."

Wes replied, "Really? Why?"

The grandmother said, "Because then I could hit you..."

I've never forgotten that...

Great post. I always enjoyed watching Mr. Belvedere. Certainly had one of the most unique sitcom theme songs ever. Stewie's version of the song on Family Guy was hysterical :)

I am really glad that Brice Beckham did not end up like those teen stars of the 80s - like Corey Haim and all for whom their fame just got in over their heads and they got mixed up with drugs and all sorts of messed up shit. He seems like a cool, together guy who's got his life in control and hasnt become some washed up celebrity with a substance abuse problem and all sorts of disorders.

A Hollywood agent was once commenting on how child stars get pushed a lot by their parents who take a few years of good acting gigs and fame as meaning that it will forever be like that, so they quit their jobs and buy houses and all sorts of stuff only to find out years later that their kid doesnt get hired anymore in this extremely competitive environment and then the mess starts. I am glad that somehow Beckham was able to remain grounded.
