1980s Dolly Pops & Snap-on Clothes

Like most little girls growing up in the '80s, I loved anything girly (in addition to smurfs of course). Dolls such as Barbie, Cabbage Patch -- you name it, I had to have it! One particular toy I liked you may not remember, Dolly Pops or Dolly Pops Dress-ups. Unlike most dolls, Dolly Pops were made of a hardened plastic, but had soft doll hair. The dolls had snap-on clothes and snap-on toy accessories.

Here's a somewhat disturbing TV commercial for Dolly Pops featuring a grown woman with a childlike voice. Enjoy!

I completely forgot about those! I remember playing with some, but I never had any of my own.

I had some of these and loved them. Next I'd like you to feature those plastic "jewel" boxes that opened up and had hidden dolls inside that folded out. Remember those? I think you could turn them into a bracelet or a necklace or a barrette...

I very vaguely remember those. I don't think I had any, but I remember the commercial.

Yes I remember this toy. Yes I also had a snap on shirt in high school. And yes, my friend ripped it off me while I was in english class.

I HATED those! their clothes were just on in the front and they couldn't really be played with.

Toy Fail, in my opinion. :)

I missed these somehow. I was a fan of My Little Pony and Fairy Tail Birds.

Don't remember these at all. Wonder if they distributed them in Canada.

Her voice just might be more annoying than mine.

I had something similar to that, but I don't think they were called dolly pops. Probably the cheap knockoff brand!! lol Yea, that commercial is a bit creepy!

This might be the first toy you have featured that I do not have any recollection of. Alas, I am a dude.

Also, I mentioned a Pogo Ball in my post today and it got me thinking: Have you ever featured the Pogo Ball in a post???

Disturbing indeed. Is that a lady, a girl, a man, or Lady Gaga?

PS I don't remember this one either. I guess I blocked it out.

I don't really remember these. I had some Cabbage Patch kids though. Wish that I had kept them even though they are a bit weird looking.

My little sister had some of these, and I bought my daughter some "Snap 'n Style" dolls from Fisher-Price when she was three. They have a similar concept, but are way cuter!

I still have mine lol! They're in the 'kids toy box' at my parent's house...the Fashion Show rotating stage, the pink house you could carry them in, the dolls. Yesterday I went out to buy a present for a 2-year-old and was deeply disturbed by the majority of toys out there. Something must be wrong with me. I did find these, not as cool as Dolly Pops but the same idea: http://www.poponpals.com/

Up until a few years ago, I still had my Dolly Pops Fashion Show set with all the dolls and accessories. I remember how much I loved putting the dolls on that stage and turning the handle to give my own little fashion show...LOL!

I had the Dolly Pops fashion show playset, too! I think it's still in the basement at my parents' house.
