Hasbro Mickey Mouse Talking Phone

Ah, another kick-ass toy I didn't have back in the late 1970s ... I always wanted one of these Mickey Mouse Talking Phones.  I loved the TV commercial featuring two youngsters sprawled out on the floor chatting it up with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.

Gotta love my fellow Long Islander who exclaims, "Mickey, come ovah for a potty!" I will never forget this commercial just because of this little girl who tawked like me when I was a kid. The Mickey Mouse Talking Phone by Romper Room Hasbro was first released in 1974.  I was always really into toy phones, hmm, I wonder why.

Does anyone remember this?

Holy cow - I haven't seen this in two decades. Never had it myself but I played with it at other people's houses. Got kind of boring after awhile.

I do remember that commercial; always thought the little girl said, "Mickey come over for a potty". lol

This is such a heart warming memory, Ally! I didn't have one either, but I wanted one. I wanted to invite Mickey over for a potty too.

I wasn't old enough to have one, but I had a Teddy Ruxpin phone in the 80s.

Hahahaha. That kid does sound like a Long Islander! I generally wasn't allowed toys like this. My parents were not big fans of toys that made noise of any kind.

We used to make fun of that commercial when I was a kid… "Mickey come over for a potty."

It always made me laugh.

Don't remember having one of these, but I'm pretty sure my niece did (and I pretended to play WITH her so I could actually play with IT).

A kick-ass toy??
I love the funky rainbow house logo at the end of the ad - that was kind of 'kick-ass'.

OMG!!! I haven't heard that phrase in at least..well I guess you know. haha. Great trip down memory lane. BTW is anyone else disturbed by the hard plastic that toy is made of? I'd totally use that thing in a prison fight...and win!

I don't remember this because I wasn't born yet (I'm a young'un) but my brother used to have Mickey Mouse apparel and toys from Fantasia when we were kids!

So, I'm know I'm nearly 2 years late, but I just found your blog and I've loving all your content. Anyway, I totally had one of those phones, and here's a pic to prove it:
