BJ and the Bear | Greg Evigan TV Show

Between 1979 and August 1981, youngsters everywhere enjoyed a somewhat unique TV show called BJ and the Bear. The 60 minute NBC comedy focused around a handsome young trucker, BJ  (Greg Evigan) and his travel buddy, a chimpanzee named Bear.

The two cruised around the highways in a big red and white rig while BJ's nemesis, Sheriff Lobo (Claude Akins) relentlessly tried to arrest BJ. The show was very similar to Dukes of Hazzard.with Rosco P. Coltrane chasing after Bo and Luke Duke.

Here's a clip of BJ and The Bear.

Greatest American Hero William Katt

William Katt was awesome as the Greatest American Hero.

At nine years old, I loved this silly weekly TV show starring William Katt as The Greatest American Hero. My little brother and I would anxiously wait for Wednesday nights to catch William Katt and Robert Culp in ABC's brilliant 60-minute comedy drama. Researching, I'm surprised to learn it actually only lasted three seasons and 44 episodes. I guess when you're young three seasons feels like an eternity.

Part of me wonders if it was the "Believe It or Not" theme song I liked best about The Greatest American Hero, or maybe Bill Katt's wild blond curls. I also found Robert Culp to be quite handsome, even though he was old enough to be my grandpa back in 1981.

The show featured William Katt as Ralph, a special education teacher turned superhero. I loved how Ralph becomes a superhero with superhuman powers thanks to a run in with some aliens who gift him a spiffy red superhero costume.

Does anyone else remember this early 1980s TV show, The Greatest American Hero

Rob Lowe's Brother Chad Lowe in TV Sitcom Spencer

With all of the excitement centered around Rob Lowe and his new Stories I Only Tell My Friends biography, I am reminded of the somewhat forgotten Lowe brother, Chad Lowe. Yes, we've heard about Chad and his addictions, split from Hillary Swank, marriage to Kim Painter, new baby Mabel, etc. but wait, what about Spencer, his awesome short-lived sitcom of 1984?

Watch the opening credits of Spencer with Chad Lowe!

Chad Lowe appeared as Spencer in the 1980s sitcom Spencer long before his Life Goes On days. I remember so little about this show, but know I loved it so very much. My buddy, Serena had a huge crush on him and we never missed an episode, um all five?! I did some research on this forgotten show and thanks to the good folks at SkoolDays.com I learned that Spencer barely survived one season with Chad Lowe.

Who knew Chad Lowe was such a weenie even back then! Rumor has it he was arguing over creative control, money and more! It was his first sitcom -- he should have been basking in the glory. I know I woulda! I now remember the show randomly becoming Under One Roof staring Ross Harris as Spencer.
