ColecoVision LadyBug Arcade Video Game

LadyBug for Coleco rocked!

The other day I blogged about my memories of seeing ET in the movie theaterSunrise Cinemas on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, New York kept kids busy before and after their movie. How? They had ColecoVision arcade game machines all along the walls of the immense lobby. However, it was my preteen addiction to these games that kept me coming back for more.

My personal favorite was LadyBug, though Q*bert was a close second. Other than the obvious Pac-Man and Space Invaders, do you have a favorite retro video game from your own childhood? What is it?

  1. Oh it was Space Invaders for me! I wasted far too many hours on that game, and still occasionally play it on-line now. :D

  2. My two favorites were Popeye and Centipede.

My grandpa owned a restaurant, and had those two games in his waiting area. I remember being 4 years old and having the high score on Popeye. I was the toddler pinball wizard of Huntington Beach.

  3. Great question. I am wearing a 'Galaga' t-shirt as we speak, so I think that answers it with finality. I also have the 'Galaga' intro prompt to notify me of email. Did you ever notice how prominently that game is featured in the film, 'War Games?'

  5. I can't even imagine how much time I spent and how many quarters I pumped into these old games.

  6. You know that I love the 80's arcade games! I have never personally played Ladybug, in emulation or real life. Now Q*bert, I remember that one. It was so damn hard! Surely took a lot of quarters from movie going kids like yourself!

  8. Well - I was never into any of these games very much. I played them a little bit, but I was addicted to a different game - Defender! I would play it all the time, and I got to where I could play for up to an hour on a single quarter. BIG time waster, but lots of fun.

  9. Ladybug was HUGE on the Italian beach where we used to go on vacation... Everyone would play a round next to the hut while waiting for French fries to be cooked... We would crowd around the player and watch. Good times.

  10. Oh, the sweet moments of playing arcade video games is hunting me again. Anyway, I love pinballs, mortal kombat and etc. But since MMORPGs are now popular, this is the game I mostly play. One of my favorite is questing and farming wow gold at World of Warcraft.
