80s Snacking - Smartfood

Smartfood White Cheddar popcorn
 famous since the late '80s.
Smartfood brand white cheddar popcorn was born in 1985. Frito Lay didn't buy the brand and make it famous until about 1989.

Lately, I've been packing small 100 calorie bags of the delicious cheddar popcorn with my lunches. It's not too high in fat and is under 10 grams of carbs. Sure, it's not the healthiest snack, but it could be worse.

Smartfood always brings me back to my high school and college years. I loved the combination of salty, cheesy Smartfood and a chilled Snapple iced tea. There's something nostalgic to me about munching on the stuff today and it's just a good as I remember.

  1. I don't actually remember this from the '80s, although I have gotten into eating it within the last several months. I'm a cheese lover, so this stuff is really addicting! In fact, just talking about it is making me drool, so I think I'll have to scrounge up one of the small bags we've got in the pantry before I go to bed! ^_^

  5. I don't remember the 80s. My son was born in 1980, and my daughter in 1986. I spent the entire decade changing poopy diapers and cleaning up barf. But I'm happy someone had a nice decade.

    Love,
    Lola

  7. Mmmm...Still love Smartfood. A friend an I almost polished off a whole big bag in about an hour a few weeks ago. Once I discovered this stuff it became one of my favorite snacks; I even love the sticky, cheesy mess it makes of my fingers.
