Vintage Lundby 1970s Dollhouse Kitchen

Lundby 1970s doll house kitchen.

As kids we loved playing house. We loved pretending we were "the mom." Some of us had playhouses outside. Some had toy kitchens complete with pots, pans and plastic foods. Some of us had miniature houses or doll houses.

The coolest room in any doll house was always the kitchen. There was something about the appliances, tiny bowls, plates, cups and saucers and micro-sized silverware. Doll houses were memorizing. They could keep a child's attention for hours -- well at least that's how it was for me.

I didn't have this exact kitchen (see above), but possibly a friend, neighbor or relative did. I remember it so clearly. It's designed by Lundby, a Swedish company. If I were single or married to a retro fanatic, I swear I would try to emulate this kitchen in our future home. Stainless steel is cool and modern is awesome, but there's something comforting about the older styles. Something that brings me back to simpler times of my 1970s childhood. Days when mom made her own bread and yogurt and avocado, brown, yellow and orange were the coolest colors ever.
Another cool doll house kitchen from yesteryear.

  1. My neighbor (a girl) when I was growing up had one just like that.

  2. My parents had the yellow fridge up until about 14 years ago...when it finally gave up the ghost. Sadly, that fridge lasted longer than the one that replaced it...they've are fridge #2 now.

My grandparents had the avocado green matching stove & fridge...but it worked in their kitchen since they never updated past 1970. But why would you fix what's not broken? ;)

  3. I had a dollhouse too when I was a kid! I loved making little tiny boxes of food and fruit baskets made from rolled up play-dough for my little kitchen! - G

  4. yesyesyes! i LOVED playing with my dollhouse- using old swatches of carpet and tiling to decorate each room. rearranging furniture for optimum feng shui.

i used to DROOOOOOOL over the tiny packages of dollhouse accesories whenever we went to the craft store.

  5. The orange appliances, Green drawer and cabinet pulls, and yellow dotted back-splash - certainly a page right out of history!

My mom had the avocado green appliances and we had rust orange walls. Of course the carpeting throughout the house was avocado green and a good 1" shag!

As a guy, I didn't have any toy kitchen like this, but I certainly lived in one. And yes, the kitchen in my brand new home has stainless appliances , nice earthy colors and no orange or avocado in sight! :)

  7. I want that dollhouse right now. This post really takes me back, though I never stopped loving dollhouses and miniatures. You're right, the kitchen is always the best.

  8. There was something mildly trippy about playing with a fridge that had a bright orange door. Thankfully you didn't wash that play date down with 70s Disney Stamps.

  9. I never had a dollhouse, but my kids did! In fact, we also had a hamster who was an escape artist, and we found him curled up inside the dollhouse sleeping one day....safe from the four cats we had at the time!

  12. I've always admired the kitchens of the 60's. Rounded edges and that shade of blue......Everything looked so soft like a fluffy cloud.

  13. Can't relate here, except my sister had a much later model that we had for about 4 months before my mom decided that it was taking up way too much space for something that never got played with.

  14. My cousins had one one of those when I was growing up. I wished we had one that had real food in it so I could have cookies whenever I wanted.

    We didn't.

  16. We were all boys growing up, so there was never one of these in our house. We have 5 kids, 4 of them girls and I've seen many a play kitchen in our house. What I remember most about them is a million little things to pick up off the floor!

  17. Oh yes, I love this vintage kitchen! I saw a full doll houses' worth of this make of doll furniture at a antique store. I had to really hold back from buying it and I don't even have kids or a dollhouse. It is too darn cute!
