Scott Schwartz Much Cuter Than Scotty Schwartz

Yesterday we learned about child stars that blossomed into fine young men. Today I have the pleasure of filling you in on the one star that wasn’t so lucky.

First off, the reason behind this entire two-part blog entry was because the other day I joked with Copyboy that I bet he looked like Flick (Scott Schwartz) as a kid. Where did I come up with such a random celebrity reference? I was basing that theory upon his current photo provided at his Not Worth Mentioning blog. Well, folks, he has since proven me 100% wrong. Check out the cuteness in the form of a 1982 bowl 'do! Looks not a thing like Scott. In fact, our friend Copyboy was even cuter.

You may remember the 1982 Richard Pryor comedy, The Toy. That’s when I first discovered young Scott Schwartz. I was just gaga over this kid between 1982 and 1984.

It's sad how things turned out for him later on. I'm sure he's an awesome guy, great friend and loving son. That's not the point. In 1982, Scott Schwartz was way easy on my 10-year-old eyes. Today? Not so much.

In addition to The Toy, I enjoyed him in the after-school special Summer Switch, KIDCO and my ultimate favorite retro classic of all time, A Christmas Story. Who could forget him as Flick sticking his tongue against the pole to see if it would stick?

I was heartbroken when I later learned he went on do porn and changed his name to Scotty Schwartz. How could my little Eric Bates from The Toy go from fine to fugs? The older he becomes (he's 42 now), the worse it gets. We're talking gold chains and wretched fashions. It's as if he went from boy-next-door to creepy nebbish right before my eyes.  Just such a damn shame.

To quote Miss Shields in A Christmas Story, "...that's all I'm gonna say about poor Flick."

PS Don't fret, Scotty has since retired from the adult industry.

  1. Ugh, that is pretty sad really. Another child star desperate to hang on to fame that fizzled long ago. Tragic.

  4. I remember hearing about Scott turned "Scotty" Schwartz randomly on VH1.....so wrong. But I think the kid that played Ralphie is like producing movies now....so there's at least that, right?

  5. Hard to imagine Flick as a porn star, but then it's hard to imagine Screech as a porn star too!

I guess some people will do anything to stay connected with the business.

Good for you, Scotty. Keep it up! LOL!

  6. I was going to say when I read the title of this blog "He freaking did porn"!! LOL. I remember him from Christmas Story and the Toy. Time has not been well that him. It's been really f'ing rough. I guess porn will do that to you.

My favorite quote: "Fra-gee-lay, that must be Italian."

  10. Again, I'm extremely flattered to be used as your guinea pig to prove your point. Though I gotta be honest, Scotty still looks pretty GQ to me.

  11. This is a little creepy. The kid from A Christmas Story was in the adult film business? Like -- I'm sorry -- but LEAST LIKELY PORN STAR EVER!

  19. I remember he was on some talk show a while back going on and on about his porn career.
Man, he got fugly...guess his tongue is stuck on something else now

  20. Ha!! HE is a porn star? Does he have a hidden asset? Otherwise, I can't think that his career earned him much $$.

  21. *blech*

How in the world did he do porn?

I love that movie a christmas story. Do you know you can buy the lamp leg online?! How cool is that

  22. He played Dickie Cessna in Kidco.... I wonder if he used that as his porn name....

  23. Ok, I know this really bad, and you can delete it if you want.... But if he would have gone into gay porn, his career would have gone from sticking his tongue on poles to sticking his tongue on poles....

  24. I love Christmas Story...I'll never look at Flick the same again!

  25. My mom went to high school with Scotty. They were best friends then, and still are. I've talked with him a bit. He's a good guy, just a bit...immature, I suppose. (And he still has yet to make good on our bet. I told him the Ravens would win at the Superbowl; he said the 49ers would win. He now has to wear NY Giants peep-toe pumps for a day, and send me pics). But I digress... The worst thing for me, hearing about his failed porn whatever, was that neither he nor my mother were the ones to tell me. I heard it from my history teacher. Who told it as another one of his "Interesting Trivia" bits.
